1937 Ford coupe standard vs deluxe

I know some stuff like dual wipers, taillights, special interior trim, a banjo steering wheel and I think the grille is chrome.

Slight difference in firewall stamping on min Dlx&Std, seems like something is slightly different above the windshield behind the header. Dash on Dlx has vertical trip strips and steering wheel would have been chrome spoked. Dash woodgrain was different on Dlx and Std also.

Windshield frame would have been chrome (outside portion) on DeLuxe, vs. painted body color on Standard.
As others have mentioned, one tail light and one wiper on Standard. Also, painted grill on Standard.

deluxe models were available with extra color choices, better quality-style upholstery, dual windshield wipers (chrome, standard, single, was black), armrest on front door, walnut woodgrain dash and window frames, standard had mahogany,2 chrome vertical strips on glove compartment door and between gauges, locking glove compartment door, interior of glove compartment was lined in hood lining type upholstery, standards were plain cardboard, 4 digit trip meter, standards had 3, extra trim moldings below the window frames on doors, shade in the rear window, brown finish on interior window cranks and door handles, with mustard colored knobs and escutcheons, standards were chrome as were the escutcheons, banjo steering wheel with rim, light switch and horn button painted dark brown, along with steering tube and lock, gear lever with brown knob, handbrake, these parts on standards were black, stainless trim along the bottom edge of running boards, chrome plated grille and windshield frame, two tailights. wheels had stainless bands, 2 horns, standards had 1. Hope this helps.

My 37 Standard is a 60 hp.

My 38 Standard is an 85 hp.

Could you get a 37 Standard with an 85 ?

Yes, 85HP was the most common option.

I may be wrong but I didn't think the 60HP engine was introduced until 1938.

somewhere I read that std 60hp cars had thiner frames than the 85s. The frame under my std was crumpled and I changed it out with a 38 frame. Chuckle, the original frame is now under a 37 rod with a garbage truck engine.

jimTN, The crossmembers supposedly were thinner. I say supposedly because I know of nobody who has ever confirmed this with a micrometer.

Regarding your frame change, unless you did things right with the DMV, you may have legal title to that the garbage truck Hot Rod, and who knows who has legal title to your car: Serial numbers from the frame are used by DMV's to register cars.
