Hi..the double action fuel pump in my 55 Ford club sedan died so I got a replacement from Mac`s which does not have the glass fuel bowl at the bottom.....so...I want to have the original pump rebuilt but cannot find a kit available for the double action 55 fuel pump.
Can anyone recommend a builder for these pumps ?....thanks,John in CT

Don't remember where I heard but after 1955 it became illegal to sell the glass pumps, If a stone kicks up and breaks the glass you could have a HOT time under the hood. This story could also be a old wifes tail , but I remember hearing it.i'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong. LOL

I got serious doubts about it Gerry. First of all, there is a metal pan bolted to the underside of the frame that serves as a splash shield and to divert cooling air to the back of the engine. The splash shield completely guards the fuel pump from the road below. Even if someone removed the shield and threw it away, the glass bowl is so thick, it would need to be one heck of a rock to break it.

Dave you are probably right It's something I heard somewhere but can't remember where. All glass Carb float bowles I seem to remember seeing but no more. I am most sure we will see more feed back on this. Gerry

I may have a NOS rebuild kit for this in my parts pile, or even a NOS pump. Will check when I get the last hauled out this weekend. Rod

Well, my 59 Edsel came stock with a glass bowl, so they had them then at least.
