optima battery

which battery are you using (part no) i'm tired of these acid batteries going bad. Carquest won't order me a battery because i complain when one comes in the date sticker is 6-7 months old, and none of the other 4 car parts stock 6 volt.

There is only 1 red top 6 volt optima battery. I have one that is close to 20 years old and still good with no battery tender

THis is a link to the last one I bought on Amazon. That was June 13, 2019. It is the third one I've had since the 1990's. The previous one is still good under my bench. I replace it when they go on sale if the current one is over 10 years old because I can. I wouldn't have anything else.

Not finding a consistent part number. 6V or RED6V.
They hold charge well if all you can find is one that’s 6 months old. Optima lists their dealers here-

Yeah. In a Ford case if not under the floor.
It's a great battery. But if that modern red battery is seen in an old car, to me it stands out like something big and red on a horny dog.

I love seeing those red 6v Optimas in my old junk, shows I care enough to buy the best. Also indicates the car is gonna start. I've bought 3, first one is coming up on 11 years old so we put it in the 8N. Waited for Amazon price to go down and cashed in my points for a new one.
