'54 front end alignment

I was disappointed today. I finally have the car dependable enough to venture 20 miles away to the alignment shop. After looking at the rear tire fender opening I'm told they can't do anything because their laser fixture won't fit in the opening. The big box stores like Discount tire need an 8 digit vin to plug into their computers. Mine only has 7. Anyone had a full alignment done on their old Ford?

GLAmes.....This won't do you any good, but fortunately there is still a tire and muffler shop in Oxnard, CA which didn't trash their old fashioned analog alignment machine (they also have a modern laser machine) and I have used them to do all of the wheel alignments on my '54's.

Had mine done by a local front end shop that had been around since the '60s. Dad started it and sons took over in the '90s. That's what you'll have to find. There's gotta be something is Dallas or Austin.

Just had my 54 done at a local shop who is an old car guy. He had no trouble and said he knows how to set them up for radial tires. Needed a few shims but no parts.

Just tell the alignment guy to put the back wheel fixtures next to the wheel and do the alignment. And just use the front wheel numbers...thats how my local did my 54...I later put a camber guage on the front and they were acceptable settings..Toe-in you can do yourself when needed

I think if that was possible with his set up he would have done it without a prompt. I've been doing business with him for years.
