1935 oil pan baffle plate?

I picked up my 1935 block and misc parts yesterday. (Going in my '34 5w.) The oil pan that came with it is in good shape but is missing the baffle plate.

Does anyone have a picture or drawing of what the '35 baffle plate looks like?

Below is a comparison of the '34 and '35 oil pans. The '35 sump is dimensionally different from the '34. '35 is shallower in the front and deeper in the rear gives me concern about the '35 pan clearing the wishbone.

Would like to use the '35 pan for its crankcase ventilation feature.

Picture: '34 upper, '35 lower.

35 doesn’t use one. The later style oil pump pickup has its own shroud the 34 just had a tube

There certainly appears to have been a baffle plate of some kind in the '35 sump. There are broken off weld tabs in the rear sump.

Your 1935 pan looks like my 1937 oil pan. There was a short baffle, about 2” tall, that went from one side of the oil pan to the other that divided the sump into two volumes. The original tall oil pump and pickup were in the rear section of the oil sump. The fellow that rebuilt my engine removed the baffle to install a later style short oil pump and suction tube.

They come with a vertical baffle but it to is in the way for the later oil pump tube style pickup and needs removed. Typically the baffle is removed anytime the later pickup is used.

Thanks for the info KiWinUS, Zeke3 and petehoovie.

So, If I am reading this right, no baffle needed if I use the 1936-42 oil pump with larger can style pickup and screen assembly as pictured below.

I would rather go this route. Looks simpler than fabricating a baffle to fit with the long pickup tube. I am assuming the discharge pressures are similar between the 1936-42 and the 1935 pump.
