Does anyone sell these ? Im thinking of the spinner on the Model A in the movie Paper Moon….

Thanks,

This question gets asked frequently and the answer is, no one sells them and no one may have ever sold them. The spinners from Paper Moon were created by the prop department for the movie. They still exist and you can make an offer to buy them from the owner.

Various spinners crop up on social media from time to time, but all the ones I've seen have been individually hand-fabricated. I suspect that in reality they're a little more fragile than the film depicts. It's a thin shaft, spinning continuously, directly in the flow of wind and debris, on top of a hot radiator, on a vibrating platform.

One of our club membes made a spinner years ago (before he passed on). It was "powered" by hemispherical "cups" on arms that spun on a vertical shaft. There were 3 layers of spinners. One spun one way and the other two, the other. It was quite a sight.

I have seen spinners like the Paper Moon Spinner that are made of aluminum for sale at plant nurseries, and in big box store garden centers.

Paper moon is the name of a movie made in the 70s Starring Tatum O'Neal and her father Ryan O'Neal it's actually a fairly good movie and they drive a model T. truck!!!

They are basically hustlers selling bibles for money And it's based in the early 30s There's quite a few cars in it too to look at!!!

I give up. What is a paper moon spinner?

Hello, remember that movie, he had a 30 or 31 Model A roadster that the spinner ornament was attached to, it was traded in for a 1935 Ford Pheaton .Came out in early 1970,s might be able to find it online or YouTube.

These are the original, film-used "spinner" hood ornament/radiator cap props used in Peter Bogdanovich's Oscar-winning film PAPER MOON (Paramount-1973). Regularly seen throughout the film on the hood of con man Ryan O'Neal's various vehicles, these "propeller" hood ornaments were key props in the film. Setting the mood for most "traveling" scenes, O'Neal's hood ornament is featured repeatedly, shown spinning down the road in close-up point-of-view hood shots, 1920s/30s music blaring from the radio. These are the authentic, screen-used prop hood ornaments, found (quite by accident) during the deaccession of a very famous, now defunct Hollywood prop house, about 10 years ago. These ornaments 'break down' (literally come apart) for different configurations, used for different special effects in the film. PAPER MOON is a classic film that starred father/daughter Ryan and Tatum O'Neal (who won an Oscar) as Mose and Addie Pray,
