Rear mains usually drip a little farther back and tend to oil the radius rod ball. The early blocks had no oiler hole from the valve chamber down to the rear cam bearing. Ford came out with a service bulletin to drill a hole down into the journal bore to allow better cam journal oiling. They did this due to excessive wear that was happening back there. All these engines are old now and many times the cam bores have to be align bored to install bushings in there to repair the off center wear that happens. Even the early V8 of mid 1932 had iron on iron journals for the cam. If the journals are restored with a new cam installed, the gasket will make the oil leak there go away until it all wears out again.
I've seen folks drill for screws and install a new thrust bearing back there as a repair but it depends on how bad the old babbitt is worn.
