Restoration work in New England

We have a fellow in the local club who is looking to have some restoration work done on his car. He is not planning on any fine point judging. Mostly chassis work but some sheet metal reassembly as well. The ideal shop would have access to, or be able to clean, paint and reassemble chassis items and have a solid knowledge of Model "A"s. Seems like 25 years ago I knew 4 or 5 guys doing this work, but now I'm at a loss to make a recommendation. Does anyone know of a shop or individual in southern New England (SE MA or RI) doing this type of work?

Ryan (-who goes by Tebo Barn) is in New Hampshire. He is one of the new generation up & coming guys who has a good reputation.

Do understand, nothing is inexpensive these day. Just because a shop has a $100+ hourly rate does not mean they are getting rich or making a killing. It just means they have overhead that must be paid for them to remain open.

There is Ron Page at Northeast Restorations in Sunderland, MA out in the Springfield area. He is a Model A Specialist.

Enfield Auto Restoration in Enfield, CT and Twin Brooks Restoration in Suffield, CT, both do Blue Ribbon Restoration. They both have a resume to prove it. Both have done numerous Model A's.

Many thanks to those that responded. I'll pass the information along.

Doug, would you have contact info for Ron Page?

Somewhere I saw a full restoration invoice from your shop. An auction posting on BAT maybe. It was substantial - but I examined it and found all the individual items and tasks well documented and very fair on the time and costs to do each task. Looking at just the total gives a false sense of what is really involved in a quality restoration.
People need to remember when looking for a shop you are far better off with a specialist. He knows the cars and the clock won't be running while he's learning the details or having to do a task over because he didn't get it right the first time.

definitely a regional thing. avg car repair in NJ is around 150. an hour for a modern day car. In Maine the same services runs 80. an hour......in Canada.......

you get the point.

I know this is a restoration thread, I thoought I would ask here rather than start another thread. But mods, please let me know if I should start a new thread.

I am looking at changing the brakes to cast Iron, I have never done any type of brake work except replacing pads and bleeding brakes on a motorcycle, I dont want to mess this up.

I am in SE MA (Easton / Raynham area), does anyone have a recommendation for a shop that can do a good job?

My dad used to go to Millwork Hot Rod and Supply in Tewksbury. I dont mind going there if it is the best place, I just thought this is a good opportunity to also build a relationship with a shop near by.

Millworks bought the old PV antique Ford, and after that they moved up to Milford N.H.I have no idea if they do the hub/drum work or not. Most will suggest sending them to Randy Gross in California, but that would be assuming you have deep enough pockets to do so.Great product, but you need to have the price of admission to get on that ride.

SNAFU1929 I would contact the MARCOM model A club out of Foxboro. I am sure they can steer you to someone in that area that may be able to help.
Unfortunately Mike Cataldo in North Attleboro closed up shop and moved to Florida.
