I posted on jalopy but some of you aren’t over there. Yall helped me a lot with various issues over the last few years. Thank you. I wanted a somewhat period correct looking hot rod originally. But with interior choices these days, I had to go custom. Check it out. Car is now pretty much done. Original Flathead, built by me with 4” crank and dual carbs on an edmunds intake, frame off and refurbished with disc brakes, Leather interior, a little lowered (sorry), fun to drive!

Next up is working on details no one will ever see. Re do brake lines and mounting hardware, paint hub cap emblems blue, lots of other little details to make it even nicer.

I know patina isn’t for everyone but it’s only original once in my book. Very little actual cancer on this car.

I agree, nice car. But in my opinion, the interior and exterior clash. Where I come from, that's beyond patina. Give the car it's due and a good paint job.

I like it! I agree with tubman, needs paint. I do think that your interior looks great & points for no billet!

Car looks great.
One question about the head lights are they stock 1939 deluxe or are they modern set up with Bob Drake or Juliano? I have a 1939 deluxe but have 1940 head lights and want to go back to 1939 deluxe.

Busman, You nailed it! I am glad you left the paint alone. I it wernt above my pay grade I would post some pic's of my 41 pu. I've had many cool cars with awsome paint jobs over the years but there is somethin just cool about showing the battle scars that I like.

Nice upholstery job! Since the dash has been painted and the firewall painted, I agree with those that think the car should be painted. If you are happy with the patina that's all that counts. It is still a great old Ford and the best part is it is a '40.

When I started selling parts as a 17 year old, this was a hobby. The more or less typical scenario over the early years were each year we would sell a pair of front fenders, a pair of rear fenders, see the car in primer, hear about a new motor, here about suspension upgrades, see the car in paint, see new upholstery, sell a bunch of handles and trim. Not necessarily in that order of course. So look at this as a work in progress to be enjoyed a few more years with patina, and when the time comes the body gets refinished and and the car is maintained and driven for the next generation or two. Nice job (so far).

Thanks yall. It will never be painted by me. Well I have learned to never say never but there are zero plans to ever paint it. I live in a very dry climate and it is in a garage. I had a vw bus with similar patina and stored in the same condition. It looked the same 10 years sitting in my garage. No additional rust etc.

Now if/when I go to sell it someday (I get bored and want new projects from time to time) the new owner can do whatever they want with it!

I love a patina car like this because it is so honest. You can tell every piece of the body is original to the car. No swappage of this fender or that fender. No major accidents etc. to me, it’s just cool and tells a story of its life. I find painted cars pretty boring at this stage of my life because well, if I paint it then it’s just another 40 ford. You won’t find another exactly like mine!

I get it though, it is not for everyone. In fact patina is for like 10% of this hobby….might bump that up to 50% when it’s done right.

Thanks for the compliments yall! Love it or hate it, I do appreciate the help over the last few years.

Now to get started building my next Flathead engine….

Patina, why stop with the car? Why not your house, your shoes, your teeth?
It's a patina palooza!!!!!
