I understand that the stock PV size for a single 94 is 7.5. That’s what I run on a couple flatheads and they seem to run fine.

Does the Holley/Ford 94 take a shorter power valve to keep from bottoming out in the housing? I have heard you can not use a standard Holley power valve, they will not work right.

Correct Holley PV will not work it will leak as it’s machined different.

A 7.5 is going to start enriching the main circuit a bit sooner than a 6.5. If it was mine, I'd buy one from Daytona and test BOTH of them under load. Also, having a vacuum gauge isn't a bad idea as well - to give you an idea as to what vacuum you're pulling under a heavy load.

Yes, I suspect the physical size is different. Where can I get the right part> My engine

FYI: pulls about 17 at full temp, in drive.

For stock single carburetor use I have never had a problem with the power valve that comes in the carburetor kit with part number 1434.

I’ve rebuilt three Holley 94s so far and have never had an issue with them interfering with the base. As others have mentioned, most “off-the-shelf” power valves have a radius at the base of the threads that prevents the gaskets from sitting properly and it will leak. I’ve gotten all my carb parts from Charlie at Vintage Speed. He machines the radius off of the PVs he sells. I did order a plugged PV for the secondary carb on my dual carb setup, and he inadvertently sent me a flame arrester valve, and that thing did interfere with the base. He sent me correct plugged power valve at no charge.
If your engine runs fine with a 6.5, I would stick with it.

I will call Daytona Parts tomorrow. They do not show their catalog, or take orders online. Hope I don't get voice mail...

I see NAPA sells them. 1940 Ford V-8 part number CRB 24005 I would rather talk to someone that knows parts, than take a chance at NAPA. NAPA used to be great.

You will probably speak with a lady and mate she knows her stuff on any carburetor. Can’t go wrong with
