Some time ago I heard that the long version mirror is for long bodies, sedans and the short version is for coupes and roadsters. Any truth to this?

I have short and long version Clock mirrors, not sure which one to use in a 32 roadster,

Thanks,

What is a clock mirror?

It's an aftermarket replacement mirror with a clock attached on the backside. The reflective silver is omitted where the clock is attached so that the clock face is visible thru the mirror glass. They were available for Model "A"s with a side winder knob. A later version was introduced around 1935, this version had a pull string with knob on the bottom to rewind the clock. This version is sometimes retrofitted to earlier model year cars.

Since it was introduced around 1935 it is not mentioned in the 1932 Ford Book

Here is an original 34 Ford accessory clock mirror. The mirror is 2.5" X 7". #2 is a 35,36 Ford accessory clock mirror and #3 is an aftermarket accessory Jaeger 8 day clock mirror.

long or short mirror depends on the bracket and how much swivel it has so you can properly see if your roadster top is up and your only view is thru that narrow rear window. both my Phaeton and '33 V8 pickup use the same bracket and short mirrors, they work just fine.
