Oscar's Super Deluxe

I am going to replace the ignition key and cylinder in my bone stock 1947 Ford Super Deluxe. I only have one original key which is worn and slightly bent due to decades of usage. I had a new key made but due to the wear on the original, was not successful.
The vehicle is located several hours away so I am trying to be prepared with the right components for my next visit.
The cylinder is held in place in the housing with a set screw located on the bottom side. The head shears off when torqued during installation to make it "tamper proof". (Photo shows a set screw that was replaced with one that has a slot).
I've located several NOS cylinders online that list them as "late 47-51". Others, including reproduction units, list them as "47-51". Is there a difference in cylinders? Can I use either one? Is there a way I can tell when my vehicle was manufactured (early or late 47)?
Any details would be appreciated.
