36 Ford Pickup Fuel Gage Questions

My 36 Ford PU came with a hydrostatic fuel gage (dual with oil pressure) that needs restoration. Even though 1935 was last year for hydro gage, my 1/2 ton has it. My question is about the tank sending unit. Mine has what I think is a fuel supply line crimped and sealed as shown in the pic (left side). Also, below the vent line there looks like a hole soldered over. Does anyone know if this is how Ford did it, or is my sending unit from another vehicle modified for a pickup? My tank has a separate fuel supply line on the side so no need for the sending unit line I assume. Not sure whether to restore or find a sending unit appropriate for my PU. Another option is to go electric gage which supposedly is appropriate for 1936. Does a dual oil pressure and fuel level gage exist for electric?
Thanks for any info or advice!

Your sending unit is from a 1932 Ford

I would highly suggest converting to 1936 Electric sending unit and gauge. They are out there. The Hydrostatic units are very unreliable even when you are lucky enough to get one to work

Thanks - appreciate the reply, and consistent with my thinking! I like reliability. Already thinking that way for converting vacuum windshield wiper from vacuum to electric.

Here's what an original 35 hydrostatic sending unit should look like for a 112" wheelbase

In your photo the cobbled together hydrostatic fuel sending unit highlighted in the center is for a passenger vehicle (mounts on the topside of tank)...At the bottom of your photo I see the mount flange for a hydrostatic fuel sender that is for a truck (mounts from the bottom side of the tank).
Hydrostatic fuel gauge systems absolutely can and do function but your average do-it yourself home mechanic is not going to be able to refurbish the complete system well enough to restore functionality once it is compromised in some manner. The entire 3 component system must be perfect (gauge head, airline, sending unit).
