46 Fordor

Hi all,
Might have to sell my 46 Fordor, on the road and inspected. Just wondering is there a market for Fordors ? Not a fancy show car, sat in a barn for 30 years. Took awhile to get it back in drivable condition. Would appreciate any insight.
Thanks Larry

My observations for 1946-1948 Fords are a nice Fordor from these model years might bring $10,000, and that is a big "might". I have a really nice '47 tudor, I expect it to be a hard sale at $9,000.

I just sold a pretty nice 46 tudor excellent driver $6.500. First person took it . Needed headliner . Everything else recently done , new complete wiring , turns added 12 volt conversion, new mstr , wheel cyl shoes , stainless trim clips , factory style weatherstripping, fuel pump, hard line brake hard and rubber lines etc .

Oh man, I hope some of the other folks here don't read this. They're gonna crap if they see that's what the market dictated.

Sold a stunning '41 fordor three years ago. Won numerous preservation awards. $6k and fought to get that.
That car went down the road beautifully.

The next time you have something like that, let me know.

Seriously.

Thanks for the input, it was a fun project. Hope to break even, did not think of selling it when I bought it. Hopefully someone will want to enjoy it.

Unfortunate if the "market" prices have fallen so much. Suspect fewer people are interested, especially younger ones ..... i.e. now they are use to turn-key, push button or remote starting. Do they know how to drive standard shift ?? Time to get our grandchildren vested in these cars. I comparatively paid a lot for my '47 Coupe a dozen or so years ago. I'll never regain the labor and parts invested but it's repaid me in the pleasure I get when driving it and when other drivers in passing occasionally tooting their horns in appreciation. When it comes time to sell I guess we can at least rejoice that at least (and hopefully) the car will not go the the crusher.

I still have our 46 Fordor although I haven't done much with it lately. The grandkid friendly component is part of the reason it's still here. Good solid car but the 42 3 passenger and 48 business coupe we have I think would bring double what the 46 would.
Have a friend that's trying to sell his driver quality 46 Fordor. He asked what I thought it was worth. I told him I thought here it would bring 10k and anything above that would be a good day. He asked why a Fordor would be worth less than a coupe. Because they are....Just saw a 48 business coupe on Facebook market place that they were asking $18,500 and it sold quickly. I found that a bit encouraging as the last couple of years it seems like the asking prices have dropped 25-40%. Regardless, I think the 41-48 Fords are a nice driving car and a great vehicle for entry into the early V8 world.

Younger "kids" do not mind 4 doors unlike us 50somethings+ who see them as having too many doors. To me, except wagons and the convertible sedan, they are nothing more than parts cars for the 2 door coupe and converts out there. The 30somethings grew up in a time with mostly only 4 doors as new cars so to them the extra doors are normal. The low rider guys love 4 doors, but they lean heavily GM and rarely Ford. Price it cheap enough so some 35 year old "Kid" can join the hobby.
