I’m back with another oil leak question….My friend got his motor back in and started, only to now find a leak at the seam where the bell-housing lower half meets the main part of the pan. The engine was pulled again and the pan removed, there looks to be one spot weld that burned through into the back inside corner of the pan. We tested it with a little oil in the pan and we can see it coming thru the seam. With the engine and trans in, is there stress on this area caused by the distance between the engine mounts and the trans mounts? It seemed to leak more when it was installed.
I had a couple more pans that he’s gonna clean up and we’ll test them.
Thanks guys………Mark

I had identical leak problem on a 59A pan several months ago. I filled the round trough on the inside of oil pan around the drain plug with JB Weld and now all is good. 40larry

There’s no seam on inside of pan. Just those spot welds.[/QUOTE
You’re right Tony. I think we’re going to reweld that spot you see inside the pan and see how we make out. I gave him a couple oil pans but they don’t have the fitting for the oil filter return.
Has anybody tried this oil pan modification in the YouTube video. Just curious….
Thanks……Mark

you can run return oil to a hollow bolt and banjo fitting on timing cover , 3rd gen has the parts.
