Speedometer and emergency brake cable routing

On my 1940 Ford Coupe both these cables run through an oval grommet in the firewall and snake back to trans and other cable for emergency brake. Can I re-route these?

Just curious. Why would you want to reroute them. Rerouting may not be possible due to cable lengths and ease of operation.

yes, you can reroute them. i did when i recently replaced both on my '41. in fact i drilled a new hole in the toeboard so as not to have to run them through the same hole. and yes, i had good reason to do that! ha

i would take note that the clutch pedal pivot point needs relief from them so as not to get hung up. things can get tight down there. :)
