MAJOR announcement from MAFCA and MARC

$65 for the pre-order. $88.28 with postage. USPS just recently went up in rates.

You and I are in the wrong business...

A week before the card will be charged.

Joe, Is hay now cheaper than gasoline? Anything that transported by Diesel fuel will go up, including USPS, UPS, FedEx, etc.

Yes their shipping is a rip off or is excessive the right word? They also want a 3.5% credit card fee. I'm close so I just shop in person. Take ones and change - the office kitty doesn't always have a lot of change.
I've never seen a copy of the standards on a memory stick. I would be in for one. I've got an old PC in the garage that I run my Ford factory service manuals on.

USPS Media Mail rates for 2026 start at $4.13 for a 1 lb package. This service is a cost-effective, weight-based option for shipping educational materials, books, vinyl, and DVDs

Is tax in there someplace also?

I asked for the total. So I suppose all applicable charges are included.

This sort of in the category like marriage and having children - you don't want to look too close at the cost because that might be enough to convince you to not go there.

Life is too short...and it's not all about the money.

For those that don't want to watch a Utube video, and since the other posts really described what has occurred:

MAFCA and MARC have released revision 5 to the judging standards. It includes 590 pages of details, color images and other details. This also includes new sections for the Town Car and Victoria.

It's $65 plus shipping, but unlike in previous updates it's a new book, and not just simply updated pages that you have to replace.

He's out of state so he probably gets out of the tax on mail order. Those of us here in CA will have to pay the 10.5% Whittier sales tax. Adding another $6.83.

According to Snyder's catalog, there are 35 states now requiring they collect sales.

Need to dig up my now obsolete seldom used judging standards and see if I can get a buck or two for it ?! Think I will wait for an electronic version…………..

I think that if you look at it from the standpoint that this edition reflects the evolution and refinement of information on the Model A, gleaned over hundreds or thousands of hours from the collective minds of dozens of recognized experts in the field (and to the best of my knowledge, uncompensated), then this becomes to me a worthwhile investment. This is not a novel that you read once and then donate to the local library.

In the dozen or so years since I returned to the hobby, working on several cars either unmolested or “restored”, I have consulted the RG&JS literally hundreds of times. I wish it had been around in the ‘60s when I got started. After all, it’s so much easier to figure out how to get to a point when the desired end is clear, and the RG&JS provides that clarity.

My hat is off to the team that prepared this new document (at least one of the team members is in my club, so we’ve been hearing progress reports). During my salaried years I was involved in editing similar technical works, and it is not a trivial task.

Correct- Uncompensated. This version (in color) is simply a work of art!

I have been working with the JSC on this project going on 3 years, and can tell you, these un-selfish people poured their souls into this.

It should qualify for USPS “Book Rate” which should be substantially less.

“Is it cheaper to send books by USPS or UPS?
AI Overview
USPS Media Mail is generally the cheapest way to send books in the U.S., offering flat-rate pricing based on weight regardless of distance. While Media Mail is cheaper for most books, UPS Ground can be more cost-effective or competitive for very heavy, bulk shipments, and provides faster, more reliable tracking.

Cheapest Overall: USPS Media Mail (best for books, educational materials, and lower urgency).
Lightweight Books (<13 oz): USPS First-Class Mail or Ground Advantage is usually cheapest.
Heavy Books/Boxes: While Media Mail is often cheaper, UPS Ground may compete on speed for heavy packages.
Cost Factor: Media Mail is 2026 rated from $2.80+ for the first pound and $0.53 for each additional pound.

Considerations:
Speed: USPS Media Mail can be slow, often taking 2–8 business days.
Reliability: UPS is often preferred for expensive or rare books due to better tracking and fewer damages.”

You always have the option to purchase the new Restoration Guidelines & Judging Standards publication IN PERSON at the MAFCA office. If you instead choose to have it shipped to you, UPS shipping rates apply.

Great
Are they available for pickup at the national Meet in Pendelton.

Thanks

Not printed yet. However, there is some kind of deal at Pendleton, not quite sure what it is yet. I believe we might have one printed out to show off. Please stop at the MAFCA booth for a look.

How is Marlies?

I know that MAFCA tried using Media Mail for a while. Because it is a low priority service, it often took a long time to get to the recipient. People were upset about the long delivery time. So MAFCA stopped using Media Mail and started using a faster service that costs more.

The last time I ordered something, I had it in just a couple of days. I was impressed. But USPS can be expensive for that service.
