4" Mecury Crank in 36LB Block

I put this project on the back burner but now am back to it. I since have acquired a 37 block that had the .040 thin wall sleeves so its already .080 over. It has been magged and sonic checked with no cracks and .181 on the thinnest cylinder wall so we're good to go.
Now I have some concern with boring 3-3/16" and the fire ring and the studs that are close to the cylinder wall. I checked with Cometic and they can make a gasket.
Just wondering what others here have done and if they have had any issues with this?
I could easily go another .020 over and use .100 over gasket that H&H offers.
Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

Thanks Dan

Where are you going to get the pistons? I'm working on a 36LB project 3-1/16 plus.060 oversize. Using the Scat 4 inch stroke crank they offer for the 21 stud. The crank fits fine the only problem in 2025 the pistons needed for the small bore size and a 4 inch stroke.

Pistons will be custom.

Pistons will be custom.

Custom pistons will be expensive figure as much as 1500.00 to 2000 that's from Egge who quoted what I needed for a set. The reality of what's going on in todays world with aluminum and tariffs not good. There is another issue finding a ring set for the bore size. Custom ring sets are another big problem. If you start the search now and find someone willing to make the set needed after placing the order figure at least 3 months before the pistons are done.
Good luck.
