Clutch size recommendation

Hey guys,

I am assembling an 8BA to put into a 1954 Meteor Niagara (pretty much the same as a 1954 Ford Customline but with the Mercury flathead originally).

The car didnt come with an engine and it was easier to get my hands on an 8BA so that's what I'm putting in there. The original 3 speed manual transmission is still in the car.

I have a clutch pressure plate and disc but they are 11 inch and the center hole is too large for my transmission. The last owner threw these parts in when I purchased the vehicle.

Does an 11" clutch disc that fits the smaller 10 spline shaft exist, or am I going to want to buy a 9" pressure plate and disc? I see lots of 11" discs with 10-spline holes online but can't find a listing that specifies the hole diameter.

Hoping to use the 11" pressure plate if possible but only because it would save some money.

Any clarity on the topic would be really appreciated.

Thanks,

Most people find an 11" clutch to be too much for a passenger car as they were originally used in trucks. You would be better off with a stock 9 1/2" unit. It sounds like you're in Canada. I have a couple of good used 8BA units and I could let you have one for shipping (which may kill the deal) if you're on a budget.

Hi Tubman,
I would be interested in on of your units. I sometimes use border parcel services in North Dakota because its only a short drive from where I am. Can you send me a private message?
thanks
