Now when I click on here I am being asked to verify. Something new? Will I have to do this every time? I don't recall ever being asked for this before.

The purpose of the questions is to prevent automated Computer Robots from scanning the website and downloading all of the data. All of this scanning is a big waste of Ford Barn bandwidth and Server CPU cycles.

I wonder if the purpose of SOME of these robots is to steal data to be used in "training" AI (Artificial "Intelligence") software.

In this case:

1. Artificial is self-explanatory!

2. "Intelligence" is highly suspect!

When you consider that thousands of these robots are scanning every website on the internet that a lot of bandwidth is wasted every day which costs a lot of money for all of the websites.

When I worked at a uni in the 90's the library server was running slow.
It was tracked down to a machine in China downloading every record in the database one at a time.

This is only going to get worse. Ryan is doing a good job keeping the Barn for humans. The prediction is that the internet will turn into AI responding to AI without a lot of human content.

Much of the data you see in AI search responses was taken from internet forums and websites without the poster of the informations permission.
