I'm trying to figure out an easy way to bring water to a pre-war water heated intake. I recently purchases these coolant nipples that go into the coolant hoses. Do they need Indian shellac or a rubber patch to seal? I've never used these before.
for a cabin heater I tapped into the water pump
You have two nipples. I have never installed a heater, but I believe you only use one nipple, for the return line from the heater into a lower radiator hose. The supply line to the heater comes off a fitting on the cylinder head.
Keep enough room to get the belt off & on.

Carb heat (intake deflected from around exhaust manifold) not used during take-off. The heated air degrades performance a bit, and engine is producing lots of heat. Carb heat is necessary under low power, like during descent. So is used during landings.I'm not a pilot, but had a couple friends with small planes, and I got lots of free air time. If I remember correct, they only put carb heat on for take off and landings. Perhaps a pilot could chime in on this. Where's v8coopman when we need him!!!
