Model 40 Roadster build

Nice job Ted. I love working with sheet metal. It's nice when you got to use sources around the garage for fabricating. Ken

Ted,
It looks like you are gas welding all your panels in?? If so,what filler rod are you using? I've got some patches I made for a 34' cabrio that I need to weld in..

awesome job,by the way!

Thanks 34Fever, I try and make the panels touch by filing , so you are melting them together ,Then occasional you use the rod if there's a gap or you blow a hole in it ,I use about 1/16 wire ,if you use wire continually .you end up juggling three things so it best minimum wire and have a small hot flame and move fast so you have minimum heat spread.you hammer sometimes after each tack or every 2"

. ,All the patch metal I am working on has been put through a English wheel to give it a little shape . Here in Shot one I am hammering the door opening on the cowl patch panel .Shot 2 is the finished patch shot 3 is it welded in . The next two are of door wood on someone else's car I am using for study purposes. The left side of the car is pretty much done now .And i am working on the right side now ,

Nice work Ted, I have a set of swaging wheels that reproduces the 34 sill
exactly, so if you need any more give me a call.
In the shot where you show the swager you have made there is another machine in the background. I am a keen collector of old sheetmetal working gear
and would love to see some close ups of it.

You have the sill swager ,do you mean the rocker or the sill . The machine in the back ground is another swager /plumbers type .
