“A” hubs vs “V8” hubs

What is the difference between “A” rear hubs and “V8” hubs (I assume that there is a difference).

Re: “A” hubs vs “V8” hubs

The axle shafts may have had some difference. I know the model A rear axle is similar to the 1st design model B axle and the shafts will interchange but they won't interchange with the 2nd design model 18 V8 axle assembly that came out for the V8 usage. After the 2nd design came out, it superseded the older 1st design for model B cars. The green bible parts book should have the different part numbers.

The hubs were part of the drum on the early model B cars but they did use the same wheel bearings.

If it is relevant, there is a repair for worn out A rear wheel bearings that involves a couple of sleeves and the use of the smaller diameter V8 rollers.

Re: “A” hubs vs “V8” hubs

A rear hubs have countersunk studs to clear parking brake mechanisms,V8 the heads of the studs stick up above the hub surface.
There are also ones that the hub and the drum are one piece both for A and V8

You heard it here first! Be sure to tell your friends!
Obviously I meant 12" brakes. :)

Re: “A” hubs vs “V8” hubs

Those 12' brakes were discontinued due to excessive unsprung weight.
