Cylinder deck block off plate ??

Where can I buy a block off plate for the top deck of the engine block?
I need to pressure test a crack that has been repaired at the valve to sleeve area.
Thank you
Oh

haha, how the heck did you find it? i looked and looked in there with no luck. my wife would call that using my old man eyes.

thank you

Being frugal, I took a piece of vinyl flooring, cut out a section using a cylinder head as a guide, then punched out holes for the studs leaving the combustion chamber areas uncut. I made another cutout for the water inlet and punched out holes for the bolts plus a similar sized hole in the middle to permit pressure to the block. The head and inlet casting were bolted up and torqued to spec and a fitting cobbled up for the pressure access.

This worked out well and the only cost was my time to cut and punch the vinyl.

If you use an old head you are not going to see the valve to cylinder area that you want to.It will be covered by the head.

True, if using air or some other gas but I used water for the pressure test and evidence of any leaks can be seen once the head and vinyl is removed. Any suspected areas can be further delineated with a dye test.

i think now ,
if i buy some thick neoprene gasket material (1/8") and use a finished 3/4" piece of plywood, cut it to the same as snyders picture, bolt it down with big fender washers. that should hold down 30lbs of air.

the water inlet is easy.

thanks

Anyone know how thick the steel plate in Snyder's kit is?

I could measure mine but mine probably started out as a piece of 0.750" Hot Rolled, -and by the time it was surface ground on both sides, it probably is around 0.625. I can measure if you want an exact measurement.

FWIW, I think you are wasting your time & efforts trying to use plywood. I run my pressure test at 35psi to force the air thru a crack or pinhole. I can lift 100# of weight on my Valve Machine when I am centering over the spindle using 30psi. If 30psi will lift an 'A' Engine Block, a roll-over fixture, and a cast iron bed plate with a mere 30 pounds of air pressure, how are you going to keep plywood from lifting under that same pressure?

Thanks, I was just wondering/thinking? if 1/4" steel plate would be strong enough.
