Here’s a Model T “pea picker’s house” photographed by Dorothea Lange during the depression, working for the Farm Security Administration (FSA).
I worked with a handyman in the 1960’s who built a plywood superstructure on his military surplus Jeep. Not as a house but to make driving in The Pennsylvania winters tolerable. I’d consider it a great luxury to have a Model A with a body in poor enough condition to have me clapping together a slab sided camper body on it.
Ed Tolman and his grandsons travel the old Mojave Rd and camp every couple years. Off road and a couple water crossings.
It seem the Model T guys do a lot more camping than the A guys - maybe we just look for more luxurious 1930s motels to stay in with our modern fancy cars......
This is a great video about Oregon's Tbums - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JyVXQ0wn440
How the heck do you lay down to sleep in that? I have considered something similar but with a slide out section at the rear to give room to sleep laying down.
I'm feeling inspired all over again!
