Stromberg Power Valve Tool

Trying to get a Stromberg power valve tool (I know I can notch a wide blade screwdriver) and having no luck so far. Have tried the following thus far:

Max Musgrove....... no response
Summit ................nope
Speedway .............nope

Right now I'm calling some Stromberg dealers fairly near me with no luck, actually no one has answered their phones yet, must be too early.

Anyhow, any suggestions most welcome. Thanks!

I'll post the part # of the socket later today, but Snap On made a 1/4" socket specifically for this task. They can be found on Ebay for around $20. Even with this tool, they can be tough to get out. Use bolt buster fluid and some gentle heat to the outside of the bowl and you should be able to get it out.

Before I found it, I've used a homemade notched screw driver, but the socket fits the slot perfectly and designed for this job.

Thanks Tim, when you get a chance that part # will be most appreciated. My Ebay searches are giving me a ton of Snap On valve stem tools.

With the proper tool I hope things will cooperate as these are new 97's.

Here are some Snap On Stromberg sockets. The TMC-43 is for the power valve. Slotted screw driver certainly works, but this socket sinks deep, fits the slot perfectly and turns it at the very edge of the valve to prevent wallowing it out. It also allows you to put some pressure on it using a ratchet vs. a screw driver in your hand.

The TMC-38 is very handy to have as well. It lets you remove the bowl plugs at an angle and you don't have to remove the generator to do it.

Happy hunting!

For my TMC-43 I made a bushing that fits the tool snugly, but fits just loose enough as not to bind in the power valve well. This keeps the tool in proper alignment with the well and the slots of the power valve. As it is, I still have to use Kroil and a little heat from time to time.

THANK YOU TIM! I picked up TMC-43 and TMC-38 along with 4 other TMC pieces on that auction site.

Great idea. Agree on nut buster and sometimes some gentle heat from an acetylene torch.

The TMC-38 looks like it's for the large brass plug over the float valve on Holley two and four barrel teapot style carbs. The blade may be too thick for the Stromberg main jet plugs.

I am unaware that Stromberg sells a power valve tool. They have a tool for the main jets.

You are correct Terry, Stromberg did not offer a power valve tool, just the main jet tool. I just got the Snap-On power valve tool and changed jets and power valves in two 97's and things went really nice.

Fits the Stromberg brass bowl plugs perfectly. Allows you to get at them at an angle if the generator is in the way.

Glad they worked out for you.
