53 Ford - Correct Location for Oil Pressure Sending Unit

Was at a local show yesterday, and came across what seemed to be an unmolested factory flathead in a 53 or 54 (sorry can’t recall the year - it’s a Canadian car). Seems the oil pressure sending unit is attached to the remote oil filter. I’ve never seen this arrangement before and was wondering if this is “factory” correct?

I have a 52 and mine is attached to the oil filter housing with a wire attached to the sending unit.

Once my new 1953 oil pressure sensor arrived I began to remove the old one, which was and still is near the oil filter because it won't come off. Now, an oil line goes from the filter area to the driver side upper rear of the block. That is where my new sensor is. I brought the wire down to it and it's fine.
