T5 pilot bearing

What's the Timken part number for the pilot bearing used with an 8BA and T5? The (presumably imported) bearing that came with my kit is making noise with only 1600 miles on it 🙄. I'd like to have a new one here before I pull the truck apart. Thanks in advance!

As with everything else these days, a proud old name is not the guarantee of quality it used to be. I remember reading an excerpt of a statement by a Timken family member that painted a discouraging picture of the dissemination of the company over the last couple of decades. I think it was on the H.A.M.B. I took a quick look but couldn't find it. Mr. Google does say this :

"Approximately 79.49% of the company’s stock is owned by Institutional Investors, 3.59% is owned by Insiders, and 16.92% is owned by Public Companies and Individual Investors."

So Timken is no longer the family owned company it was for years. This is not to say that they sell junk, but the general consensus is that quality has suffered during the transition. I would think that the part you are looking for is from the "old stock" from earlier days and should be OK. You just have to do your homework on everything these days.

TIMKEN ball bearings are actually FAFNIR since TIMKEN acquired/took over FAFNIR as well as TORRINGTON then sold TORRINGTON to KOYO, now whether or not FAFNIR still manufactuers in the USA......., if you Google "TIMKEN show me the parts" &type in the boxes you'll find the "TIMKEN" (FAFNIR) pilot/spigot bearing applicable in a FORD vehicle it'll either be a sealed ball bearing or a INA needle roller bearing T5 bearings didn't&hadn't/haven't changed from FORD to GM applications here in Australia they're fitted to late model Falcons&GMH (Holden) Commodores up until the late 80's early 90's .

Here's the BOWER/INA part numbers:FC-65174&FC-65662.

Just curious if you know what make of bearing is in there now? I purchased a National Bearing (P/N 203S) off of Amazon for my 59A to T5 with the Ford input shaft.
