Well, you could get the red Harbor Freight meter and it will do everything that the Simpson meter will do.Why analog?
Thanks for the great input! I was able to pick up a used Simpson 260 series 7 working with the leads on eBay today for a pretty reasonable price! Appreciate all the input!
Is series 7 the one w/the reset button on the front?
Those Radio Shack Microntas are classics - many are still out there and working fine. I still use mine alot because my digital meter goes nuts near a running engine!Reading this post got me to thinking if I still had my old Radio Shack Micronta analog meter. Behold, I found it tucked in the back of a toolbox drawer! Does this qualify me to be in the analog Multimeter club? Now if I can just remember how to use it!![]()
Model A electrical system is not digital friendly. Also an analog meter will show things a digital will not.

It only gets batteries put in it when I do things that needs the batteries in it.
The "trip button" (fuse overload) would be preferred, but they can get "touchy" - as in Trip below their rated amps.
My Radio Shack Micronta 100-K (looks the same as the classic Simpson) doesn't have a fuse trip and its served perfectly fine - but one SHOULD HAVE an idea of what they are expecting in test.
Which is ALWAYS good advice.
