I have made a downdraft 1-1/2" ID, inlet manifold for my rebuilt B and have a Stromberg 97 going on which brings me to the question , no filter or filter and which is best ?

Any suggestions much appreciated.

OK , a little surprised at the response so far considering the depth of experience it has come from and poles apart .
I had been thinking along the lines of large and almost essential for longevity.
I like this set up ,what filter is this ??

Looks like a K&N to me. If you look at a 97, it is not air balanced, somewhat like the Model A Zenith (the float bowl is vented to the outside). Depending on the filter or no filter, some jetting will be involved.

That’s my engine bay there,
It is a KN filter, but I’m away at present ,will be back home in 3 weeks,
So let me know if you want the part number,
Otherwise, look up the KN website, look for the diameter of the 97 inlet, and diameter of the filter.
That pic was taken after a 5600 klm trip last year, lots of it on bad dirt and dusty roads.

Oh great , I was hoping you would pop up :D
I will go look at the web site , do you remember how tall it is ? I will search back through your previous posts and see if you have mentioned it , also like your accelerator linkage set up ect.Look forward to talking when you get back.
