Just wondering if anyone has ever seen or used the pictured dual point distributor plate? There is nothing that indicates who made it, but I guess it could make a difference in these distributors.

I know Mallory made 'em, because I bought one for my first '51 Ford in 1958. I don't think that one is a Mallory because of the lack of branding and the absence of a "trash can" condenser. I bought a couple of NOS Mallory early Mopar conversions on eBay several years ago, and they came with "trash cans", although they had stainless steel cases, not brass. If you look closely at the instructions, you can see what looks like a regular old condenser installed on the exterior of the distributor.

Yours is probably a generic model made to be sold by such places as Western Auto, etc. Too bad it doesn't have a nice shiny brass "trash can". I hear they're worth 1/2 second in the quarter.:D

I bought a distributor with that plate at a swap meet in Munroe Wa last spring. Seller said it was a mallory dual point. Ford tag wasn't ledgible and I'd never seen a mallory dual point, just heard of them here so I bought it. I spose I got taken, but it had a nice new cap and vac advance unit and was in good condition overall. Probably never use it because part of going 8ba was to rid myself of the dual point business on the 59 ab. My 276 8ba runs beautifully with just one set of points and even a shade tree hick can adjust them alongside the road if needed.

It always amazes me how much stuff people buy and put back to "use" one day. I realize that I am not the only one that does it. Some really neat stuff has survived all these years.

I love buying old parts in the original box. I could not find a name on my dual point plate, but I haven't taken it apart.

Looks like all three shown in post #6 were all stamped by the same company and then sold/distributed under a different name.

I have several of the first shown and the 36 ones. From same place as you no doubt Jay. And the guy from Marion with them on epay.
