Vehicle weight

Any info on weight for a 1941 Mercury Sedan Coupe? There is a gravel pit just down the road with scales, but it is either dusty or muddy or both, so Have avoided going that route so far. I can go to a cleaner one further away, but I thought there might be charts I am not aware of.

Tom, shipping weight was around 3,200 lbs. as I recall
Thanks John, I guessed 3200# or a bit more. Close enough. Just wondering how much weight will be on my trailer going to Springfield. The trailer is good for a lot more, but just a curiosity point. Are you going John? I hope so!

Tom That gravel pit scale you are talking about.

There is a couple here locally that leaves their scale on. One pit only has one set of scales. The other quarry has 2 scales. When they are closed, evenings, holidays, weekends. Both places leave their scales on. The quarry leaves just 1 scale on. They both have a digital readout on the side of the scale house. The digital readout is in 20-pound increments. Meaning, if you weigh 19 pounds, it shows 0. If you weigh 21 pounds, it shows 40 pounds.

The place next to you just might leave their scales on 24-7. Will not have the "truck" traffic when they are closed. But you will not get an "exact" poundage. You get the exact weight when they are open, but have to pay for it.

No large truck stops near by?
In my travels to Michigan recently there were 2 truck stops that I saw (could have been more) that offered commercial scales.

Also, if you have one, check in the back of your vehicles Reference Book (owner's manual) as it maybe listed there.

Interesting. The two pits I do business with are off limits when not open. I do haul some in my dump truck, so I'm familiar with them.

That "sweetheart" looks to all original. Very nice!!!!!
Sorry I will not have the opportunity to meet you John. I am not quite done travelling however!

The Mercury: It is pretty much like a good used car a couple of years old. It did have a frame off restoration about 35 years ago and stored most of the time since. However it would seem none of the mechanical aspects were addressed. It does not appear that the engine has ever been apart. The "restorers" were good body men but not mechanics it seems to me. I think it was a solid original to start with.
