1930-31Closed Car Drivers Door Latch & Sliding Lock

My 1931 Closed Cab Pickup is missing the sliding lock on the inside of the driver's door. There's nothing there, no sliding knob, no escutcheon, not even a hole in the upholstered door panel. I haven't removed the door latch assembly from the door yet but I want to restore the sliding door lock to the way it was originally.

Does anyone have an assembly drawing or picture of the door latch and related parts that would give me an idea of what parts are missing once I remove the door latch? Bob Bidonde: Maybe you've taught a seminar on this and have slides?

Thanks,

Bruce

No need to remove the latch. Just remove the panel and look to see if the two D-nuts are there for the slide lock are there. If so, install a lock and prep for the escutcheon & knob.

Thanks Brent, I was hoping it would be that simple. I suppose the slide lock could still be there and the stud for the knob has been broken off. That's one explanation why someone would have just covered it up.

These sketches are for a 45-B Coupe, but may be useful for your Pickup.

The CCPU uses a simple slide lock. BRATTONS P/N’s 3190 slide door lock assy, 32200 screws, 32210 door lock knob, 31030 escutcheon.
Snyder’s A-46168 sliding door lock, A-46168MB screws, A-46192-A lock knob and A-46272-AR escutcheon.

Thanks. In your picture I see screws along the edge of the door panel. Is that common? Mine has screws on the corners and black headed nails along the edge.

Originally serrated nails into brass retainer in the door frame were used to hold the door panel. I don’t believe those brass retainers are even available.

I did not use the serrated nails and brass retainers as they are impossible to remove.
I had concerns that one day I would have to remove a door panel to repair a window mechanism or door latch.
I found a Honda nylon screw retainer, A14255, that fit the holes in the door the original brass retainers were installed in. I used #4-32 machine screws to attach the door panels.

6 months after the completion of the total rebuild I had an original window regulator fail. I didn’t have to destroy the door panel fasteners to replace the regulator.
