Hi. When I bought my '53 mercury, at an auction, it had one of those pretty blue voltage regulators on it. It also wrongly had a 12 volt battery which I quickly changed back to 6 volts and used the original one that I found in the trunk. It works fine. But what are those 2 wires that are on the frame and head back towards the dash. The colors faded long ago. Thanks.

The two wires that lug under a mounting screw are ground wires. One of them goes to the generator to make sure you don't have a floating ground messing up the regulation of your generator.

Thanks. I did check readings on my volt/ohm meter, but now I know.
