Throttle return spring

I just recently got my 49 Ford running with the 8ba but Im noticing that the throttle sticks a little. I checked the manual and saw that there is no return spring (never remember having one), is there an option that would work that follow members have used?

Looks like mine, If I wack the throttle it works as should but if I just tap it, it will stick at around 1500 rpms or so. I will have to make some adjustments and see if I can get it to work right.
I did manage to lose the clip that holds that little bar that goes to the gas pedal, can I just use a carb linkage clip? Appreciate the help.

If it looks OK, maybe you should try cleaning and lubing the pivots the rod goes through.

I have, what's your lubricant of choice?

For something like this, I'd hit it first with a solvent, such as PB Blaster, and then use some spray lube (there are a bunch out there) with one of those thin straw-like thingys to get it where I want it.

WD-40 is not a lubricant.

It might also be out of alignment; you could try loosening the nuts holding it on and moving things around a bit.

I wrestled with this same issue.... ended up adding a second spring on a bracket that pulls the throttle back in the direction of the radiator. Works great and I never looked back :)

I always double spring the throttle return. One of the springs is just strong enough to return the throttle to its stop; and the other is stronger and acts like the main spring. I learned this trick when I was racing. Some sanctioning bodies require two springs.
