1932-34 Pick up questions.

Nice job. It's shaping up to be a really nice truck. That subtle stretch will never be noticed but it will just look better. Please continue to post progress.
Mart.

Agreed. Amazing what just a 1/2" will do. Wheel is certainly centered better in the fender opening.

Lookin' good, Zach.

I agree with the mods, very nice little truck you have there.

Thank you everyone.
I made a bit more progress setting parts together and deciding what to use and how things fit, etc.
Also bought some new rear tires. it will have 6.50x16 rear and 6.00x16 fronts probably on 40-48 wheels in the end.

This had the passenger grill on when I got it so we set that back on, mainly since it's the same color (which is NOT the final color).... but its growing on me so it may stay, we'll see... the pickup grill has already had a bunch of work as it was smashed in at the top about 1" right at the ford emblem, I assume from when the truck was crashed that bent the frame so bad, also the bottom is rusted and needs some more work.

At this point I am leaning towards running a 3.54 rear and with the 6.50x16 tires it seems like it will be a decent RPM to run around and get up to 60-65 for a short spurt on the highway if I wanted to drive to work, etc.

Trying to sort out tube shock mounts on both ends now but getting a little side tracked with spring cleaning.

At least it looks cool sitting in the garage now with the roadster.

Thanks Pete!
That's my son, Henry, in the photo by the way...

Here is what the truck looked like when we first pulled it out of its hiding spot in 2020
I think it was purchased about 20 years earlier and parked there.

It seems like the rear spring collapsed from having so much weight in the back for so long. Not that it had enough leaves to begin with.

My 41 pickup runs 3.54s with 6.50:16s. It drives really well. When I went through the gearbox I used a 15/29 gearset. The whole combo is well matched.

Thanks! I have been debating what trans gears make the most sense with this combo. I guess it depends a bit on the amount of power you have to pull 1st gear on a hill.
Good to know that 29 tooth isn't too low. Thanks!

Had a bit of a delay with this truck. Family, life and other things always seem to interfere. Anyways, a few friends helps to get a bed floor for me from summit to save shipping. It finally arrived yesterday so I'm back to digging in here. I layed the panel in, aside from being warped, it doesn't have the rivet holes pre drilled on the flanges. I was assuming I could base off of those and figure the wood thickness. So with that in mind. Does anyone happen to know the correct dimensions for the wood boards that go under the steel floor? Also I bought some 6.50x16 rear tires and put used 6.00's on the front on a set of old black 40 wheels.
Thanks for any help!
Zach

After quite a hiatus with this truck I rolled it back to the garage and dissassembled a good bit to fool with it over the winter. Since setting it all back together last year, its been tough to get motivated to make a giant mess of it again. Since last update, I made some wood for the bed floor support but need to make some decisions before assembling it all.
I'd like to make some sort of trailer hitch. Does anyone have any photos of any period hitches? (No box tubing)
Also i decided to swap to tube shocks since the new cutoff date for parts is around 1950. The rear is easy but sure seems tight to fit up front with the fenders. Any photos of front tube shocks on a 32? Again, only using old period parts.

I figured maybe posting an update and checking in may help to keep motivated on it for a while.

Thanks
Zach

On my sedan I used 50 Plymouth tube shocks, F-1 upper brackets bent to clear the fenders, and welded 3/8” steel bent to take a regular shock stud to the front lower eyelet of the wishbone.
