1929 Model A Coupe Driver Door Glass

I have a 1929 Model A coupe closed cab. The driver's side window broke. I have purchased a replacement window. I am seeking guidance and professional advice on how to correctly and safely install the new glass. Also, my other question is what would have been the material or adhesive that left the black stripe on the original glass? Picture included.

On my 29 Special Coupe, I replaced the regulator. I removed the top of the door, there are three screws that hold it in place. Top comes off and window is slid out from the top.

thanks 1955cj5. I looked at that site but couldn't find anything related to the door glass. My truck was a basket case when I purchased it about 30 years ago. I believe the windows were already out of the doors and both were already broken.
I had new glass installed but don't think it's right. It has no top felt channel and the side felts are "glued" in. I'll call Steve @ Berts. I know he has one of these trucks. Mine was made in San Francisco and is stamped AA on the subrail in front of the seat riser so I think it may have been a AA truck cab in "another life".

1955cj5: Just spoke to Steve @ Berts. He "educated me on the door glass scene for the 29CCPU. I learned about the window garnish vertical strips from your pictures and he has those for sale. Also purchased the felts and a few other things there.
Thank you very much,

Hello, found this thread as I was searching for help with my 1929 A sports coupe. I have broken glass in the passenger window which I need to replace. Does the glass come out at the very top of the door past the window where the sheet metal cover is, or can it be removed 1/2 way where the window garnish opening is? Thanks for any help Gill
