1950 Mercury Heater Blower Motor

I recently upgraded to 12v. The car is relatively stock otherwise. The original 6v blower motor worked, never very well. I ran the motor on 12v after reading quite a few people not having an issue running these motors on 12v and some having issues. I took my chances. One day sitting in traffic jam the car started to get warm so I turned the heater on high... that was the end of it. I bought a single speed 12v motor from shoebox-central. I have a 2 speed factory switch and wired it to the high side. It works but it doesn't work well enough to ever make it warm in the car - doesn't spin fast enough.
Is there a better blower motor that I can swap into this car? The weather being all over the place it's nice to be able to drive it when the temps are below favorable.
Thanks for any help

I imagine I have the same 12v fan motor as you, got it from Shoebox Central for my '51 Ford and it seems to spin up well enough. I would just ask if you have a really good ground connection to bare metal?

I do have a good ground. I have a stock 2 position switch and now a single speed motor. Originally I did have it wired to the low side of the switch. I wired it to the high side of the switch and it spins faster. I'm wondering if the switch is now my problem since it has a resistor in it. There just isn't enough air flow being pushed through my ducts to ever get it warm in the car.

I will bypass the switch and see what happens. It is definitely spinning in the correct direction. The car is not in excellent shape by any means. When I'm doing under 35 mph it stays decently warm in it but once I start cruising the rusy holes don't do me any favors. I hope to get her back out before too long.
