Hi !!! I have a 1950 Ford Convertible Stock V8 with Stock Overdrive. Does someone have pictures or a diagram of how the overdrive cable and lever is set up ? I’ve tried different ways to make the cable work …..The Cable housing slides over the wire ……I need some assistance on how to make this assembly work without crushing the housing ….And which direction does the Overdrive Lever point ??? Any help with pictures , illustrations of hardware would be very very helpful Thank You all very much !!!! This Car has the X. Frame . I don’t know for sure if that makes a difference…. Thank You !!!

To understand your questions I have to ask a few. So your '50 was born with overdrive but your lacking the cable? When you mention "Lever" are you referring to the Handle below the dash or the Lever at the trans? Do you have the small bracket that's bolted to the trans around the solenoid that holds the cable? Does your cable have the metal end piece which is where the aforementioned bracket grips the cable housing (preventing it being crushed)? Doing a search for "OD cable" should bring up some posts & pics on the subject.

There is a plethora of photos and info on this site and online via google search. I have the same questions, is this a new install? Attached is a photo of the routing along the transmission. (not my car - too dirty)
