How to get this apart

Hey guys, I need to know how to get this ignition switch and drop off the column with out hurting anything.
Id like to have the switch re keyed to.
The off / on lever isnt stuck, but the lock lever is engaged.

Elwood - looks to me that the way to get the casting (the drop with the switch and ignition lock) off would be to:

  • Remove the horn rod
  • Remove the steering wheel
  • Remove the spark and throttle levers
  • Remove the notch plate from the top of the steering column housing
  • Remove the pinch bolt from the casting
  • Spread the casting carefully with a screwdriver or similar, and pull the casting carefully off the top of the steering column housing
You'll need to replace the drop with a standard one if you don't reuse the special one with the switches.
 
Thanks Jay Jay, Ive got the wheel off and the tube lose from the box, but the lock pin is holding the tube to the shaft.
How can I get the switch/Key part off so I can release the lock pin ?
I want to send the switch off to get re keyed.
 
This column looks to be for a Ford product made during the flathead V8 years. You can get it apart successfully without damage, but it will take some finesse and skill. I would recommend posting this on the Early V8 Forum and get good, experienced advice from some of those guys. I've done one of these, but it has been too long ago.
 
the pin underneath that holds the tumbler in has to be removed,I usually drill and tap for a small screw and pull it out.
The tumbler should have a letter/number code on it that a key can be made from and with the tumbler out a screwdriver can be used to move the locking pin away from the steering shaft.
 
Hey Kurt, what pin are you talking about ?
Do you see it in the pictures ?

“I took it from a 30 Model AA, big truck. Took it out myself”

In 95 years something might have been changed? Maybe somebody did something years ago….just saying. Can’t begin to tell you modifications I’ve found
 
I believe it is from a ‘35 or ‘36 truck. Those two are different, but I don’t have the angle I need to be sure. Based on the lock cylinder style, my guess is that it is a ‘36 especially since it is “ON” when down.
