glove box lock removal

My glove box lock did not come with a key for it. That being said how do I remove the cylinder for a new lock. Or would it be better to take it to a locksmith and try and have it re keyed? Thanks

I assume you do not have a key for the trunk? The glove box and trunk usually shared that key. Otherwise, I would suggest a locksmith

Usually, one of the front door cylinders will have a KEY CODE stamped (FA XXXX)(FRT DOORS and IGN)

The deck kid and glove box will have an FB XXXX, usually on the glove box door cylinder. A key can be cut from that code.

I had a guy here on the Barn cut me a couple keys from the code on the cylinder on my 41 glove box cylinder. They fit prefect. I can't remember his name, but do a search here, you will find him, he has good reviews.

The glove box door should be keyed the same as the rear door. Have you tried it?
