1949 Tudor lower Rad hoses

Well I've run into a little problem. I purchased an aluminum radiator for my shoebox but the lower rad hoses are too short. The new rad also sits lower and that is the reason I believe why they won't fit now. There is a guy from Europe that had a nice set of lower hoses for sale an I believe that they might work but they're $100! Before ordering them Id figure to check here to see if anyone has a cheaper alternative. Here's a pic of them.

As much as I hate seeing them on a decent car, have you checked out some flex hoses? (They are way down there where you can't see em.)

Or you could go to your FLAPS and see if they will let you go through their selection of hoses and see if there is anything that could be cut down to fit.

It's kind of disappointing to hear that the replacement radiators need special hoses.:(

I imagine the aluminum rad cost less than a specific fit brass radiator but in the end,.....?

Anyway, in answer to your question, I would get a piece of straight rad hose of proper size, a short piece of steel pipe (exhaust pipe) of proper size to act as a sleeve between your formed lower hose and the extender straight hose, use a Gates Power Grip shrink hose clamp and there you go. Opinions my vary but I did this when I needed a funky lower hose in my '32 connecting a Nailhead to a Walker rad and worked great.

I think Im just going to bit the bullet and buy the S hoses. I dd stop by an Oreillys and the gentleman there and I went thru the hoses available and didn't like the options. Shoebox, that is a good option but this time I'll pony up.
