Dvorak Collection

Some of you may have known Jim Dvorak from the Chicago suburbs, he passed away a couple years ago and had a good collection of Model A's. Six of his cars were sold at auction this morning including some low mileage original vehicles.

The top seller was this '31 Sport Coupe (1 of 21,000 made that year). It has just over 24,000 miles on the odometer final bid price of $13,000

There were two original '30 Town Sedans with around 70,000 miles on the odometers that sold for $9k each.

Was kind of surprised at the prices of the original cars. Thought they would have gone for a little bit more but it may have just been the auction as there were a lot of items that were selling for lower than estimated or were passed due to reserves not being met.

Figured I'd share for those interested.

Tim Thanks for sharing.

-Original unrestored cars are an acquired taste as opposed to those that are bright & shiny. An original that hasn't 'benefitted ' from a restoration drive and operate like no restored Model A. My experience. jb

you are correct! that is my exp, too. drove a '31 Coupe with 32K original on it. FOMOCO's originality had not been driven out of it yet, and it still had a sense of 'new car'. it was subtle, but if one knows Model A's etc... it was noticeable.

all of those cars are easily worth double or triple

problem is, this is the first many of us have heard about them. unadvertised or difficult to find.......... value not so much.

No substitute for original unrestored cars with relative low miles. You have to drive one to understand. I have driven plenty of fancy As that drove like poop. Those cars where sold at bargain basement pricing. IMHO

This auction house is relatively close to me so I stumble across their auctions every now and then. In my opinion they are terrible at advertising. They posted a link to the auction on the MARC Facebook page about 16 hours before bidding started. That's the only advertising I saw for it.

Hopefully the cars landed with someone who will preserve them and save them.

so everything on that coupe was original- including topping and interior?

I would have no problem on paying 18k for that car and I am very low.
