Screws #12 - 24 Floorboard

Hello, the correct ones are 12-24 , rarely used today. Screw and bolt standards have changed though the years, so hard to find exact replacement hardware, 3rd generation does have some replacements that are similar to original.

I spent some time looking through the Parts Price List and the Body Parts book. I come up with the welting and MANY variations of floor boards.

And possibly the dished washers (A-34244 or A-351548-R)

But not the bolts. Neither show in what I mentioned. Not even in Mick Isbell's Ford Model A Standard Hardware book - which is a sort of "compendium" of the fasteners all in one spot.

Add the "D-nuts" to this no find - although they might have shown on the sill drawings.

The finish of the bolts should be S-1, S-2, S-3, S-4 which are either "raven" or black paint (or both) for finish.

I didn't notice that anyone mentioned to try to insert the screws into the D nuts without the floorboards in place. Try that. If they will not go, then they are obviously the wrong size. If they will fit, then the floorboard holes don't line-up with the D nuts.

See #3 and #4.

I am putting in the floorboards and will put back the seat assembly in a '31 coupe moveable track. The suppliers note #12-24 screws are used. Years ago I took out the floorboard screws and kept them in a bottle. I cannot get them back into the D-clips in the floor. I could not get the original screws into the D-clips. I pulled out a 12-24 tap and ran the tap through the D-clips. I checked the thread pitch and it was 24. I have some replacement screws and they are exactly they same size and pitch and also will not fit into the floor or seat support. Why don't these screws that are supposed to be #12-24 not fit into the support clips? What am I missing?

Measure the OD of your 12-24 tap and compare it to the OD of the 12-24 floorboard screws you have.

It's time to post the old American Standard screw size chart again ...FYI
