Dimensions of Glass

I am trying to find where the dimensions of glass is given.
I have a 1930 BRIGGS Fordor Blindback that needs the front door windows replaced. Can anyone supply location for these measurements including THICKNESS!

The present windows do not have any markings, so can I assume they are NOT original, OR did the door glass have no markings.

Lastly, what TYPE of glass should I use for the replacements?

I bought my glass for my '30 Briggs Town Sedan from Bert's. It is tempered glass. Not sure if they still sell glass.

ronn - Thanks for the reply! I checked but could not see what type of glass it is nor does it give the size!
Y-BLOCK - Thanks for your response also. Was the edges Polished and do you know the thickness?

click on Bobs classic auto glass
this price is for the whole set. You can buy as little or as much as you want.

The glass I got from Bert's was tempered 3/16" thick, polished top edge. Fit perfect. Part# 91022. That was ~9 years ago I replaced my window glass.

I just looked it up, still shows in Bert's catalog. https://modelastore.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=6007

Hello, if the glass is original and has no markings could be original non safety glass. If so good thing you are replacing it, only the windshield was safety glass , side and back windows were extra cost options for safety glass.

Thanks to ronn, Y-Blockhead and gdmn852 for your response and info/suggestions.
I have found a local glass compy that will cut a 16" X 24" laminated piece of glass and polish the three edges for $52.50 each. They did tell me their thickness is 0.250 and my exsisting glass measures at 0.2535 so I am good there. I know the above measurement is too large overall but that is what I estimated when I got the estimate.

SO now the QUESTION has to be asked is, could this be inferior glass they are selling me in comparison to the above being sold by Bert's?

Cape, make sure you understand the difference between tempered glass and laminated glass. The glass from Bert's is tempered, so it will be stronger than the laminated glass you get from your local guy. Your local guy can not cut tempered glass, it has to be ordered to size.

FYI, most if not all moderns have tempered glass in the side windows and laminated in the windshield.

Y-Blockhead Thanks again for responding!
My understanding, from the internet and Local Co. that Tempered will crack into larger chunks vs. plate glass will crack into small pieces that can injure a person. On the other hand, laminated will crack BUT mostly stay together. Am I correct in my information?

They can get the tempered BUT couldn't give me a price when I talked to them .

I think that is backwards, tempered breaks into tiny pieces. That is why you see tiny pieces all over at an accident scene. Plate glass will slice you up. They don't use plate glass in autos.

Laminated will crack but stay together due to the plastic sheet laminated in the center.

They use tempered glass in the side windows so either you or EMT can break the window and get you out in an emergency. Lamitnated will hold you in. That is why it is used in a windshield, so you don't fly thru it.

Either should work for you (besides plate glass).

Y-Blockhead - Like I said they weren't able to give me a price for the TEMPERED until they called THEIR SUPPLIER! I would consider the TEMPERED if it is not crazy money. As far as I can tell there is PLATE glass in right now which I want to eliminate! Thanks again for your response! Sure appreaciate That!

There is a service bulletin on glass but it was early enough in production that it doesn't cover all the changes done later. It does give a lot of information concerning dimensions with thickness and type of glass so it still has value.
