4o /47 truck upholistry

I have not seen any. I am looking for dark green for my 39 truck. I got samples of dark green that the upholstery guy can get but it’s not dark enough. Forrest green is way too light and yellowish when put next to the original green.

If the trucks had the material known as book cloth that predates the vinyl that is common to the modern era, a person may find it difficult to get any authentic type material. Vinyl is thicker and doesn't always match the grain of the old pyroxylin coated faux leather that was used back in the day but it may be the only easy way to go now.

You might check the Forest Green color of faux leather vinyl and see how close that is. Sailrite has several lines of faux leather vinyl material and that is the only darker color of green I've been seeing from several different vinyl sources as well as one of the Sailrite lines. Looking at multiple sources a person can see that there are multiple shade differences in that color.

Can not speak to anything other than 46 & 47. In 46 & 47 Ford offered DUCK covering as a seat & back rest option. I have never seen a truck with it but it was described to me by a very knowledgeable Ford truck fellow from Western Washington who has since passed away.....This is what a 46 Ford truck brochure advertised that carried over in 47.

Labaron Bonney (sp) used to make standard backrest & seat upholstery. Been out of business for a long time. SMS would have something close to standard. You need to compare your OLD stuff to today's options to come close to original Green vinyl material. Here is what Ford said in 1946 & 1947 HILTY'S Period Correct options booklets.

Duck is just a form of canvas. Jeans are made with material that is a lot like duck.

In my world canvas seats would be clean for about two hours. By day 3 they'd be stained with 90w, brake fluid, sikaflex, rusty metal primer...... etc. Not that I wouldn't want a set, just sayin' it's a funny choice for the deluxe option. Perhaps the 'deluxe option' set don't roll around under their vehicle?

Thats called "breaking them in" to achieve the optimum softness and "patina".
