Things I should Know-long trip planned

I think they still do tours to Alcatraz. I believe the tours are out of San Rafael. To do the tour you will not need to get into San Francisco. A once beautiful city has turned into a crime infested dump. It's a shame.

yes they still have tours for Alcatraz, nut you need to go yo san francisco , around peir 39 or so

You want stories about old car trips, if my father in law were still with us, he could tell of the trip he and his young family took, all worldly belongings strapped to the fenders of a Model A Ford, from the Oklahoma Dustbowl to California. He was true to Steinbeck’s classic Grapes of Wrath, all but the politics.

That’s pretty cool if a person sits back and really thinks about it, what it would have been like, especially compared to how we have it now. The old rough roads, the rain the darkness, the lack of gas stations, the poor head lights, stuff a person doesn’t even think of. Pretty dam neat history. Thx !!

Thanks for all the tips, stories and feedback it gave me a lot of different things to look at before the journey and lots of ideas on things to take to be better prepared. I will keep track of the journey and post along the way.

I don't know if this has been mentioned but, Rumbleseat (Paul Garrigan) used to have numbered boxes ready to ship on his bench with heavier items like generators. If something got too much to repair on the road, he would have his wife send it to him.
