Note the Hotel Belmont sign on the far right. “Steam Heat Hot Water Finest In Town”
Now imagine staying in a hotel in Missoula with coal or wood stove, and no hot water. I’ll bet they didn’t have free WiFi, either.

Re: Laundry trucks.

They sure dressed well 90 years ago.

It was also an age of "make something of yourself."

A recent comparison has been drawn online between John Lennon's "Imagine" and the slightly later "You've got to stand for something" by Aaron Tippen.

"You've Got to Stand for Something" is a mid-tempo, exemplifying the patriotic blue collar themes that would show up in many of his later songs as well.[1] In it, the narrator recalls the life lessons taught to him by his father, who told him that he should stand up for his moral convictions.

My wife gets on my case about my nose and ear "hairs."

"Have some pride in yourself" she says.

She's right. Our familial formation includes "make the most of yourself" as a way to celebrate one's personal creation and existence. But an entire post WWII generation has seemingly forgotten this.

Not to let a thread go political or religious - and instead make a singular social statement - and leave it at that.
