1940 Pickup - Brake Hoses for Drop Axle

On my 40 Pickup I have a 4" drop Magnum axle and posies reverse eye spring.
This combination has shortened the distance between the frame and the front wheel cylinder, so the stock brake hoses are too long.

I'm sure quite a few people have drop axles on their chassis, so I thought I would just ask what size brake hose they went with, and how / where they order a DOT brake hose that fits in different lengths?

The originals are 15.5", and i'm assuming I need the same hose in about 10 or 11" length?

(See attached pictures)

Thanx

Kirk

On most of the personal and customer chassis I built over the years I used #3 or #4 stainless braided line. If the customer was concerned about appearance I covered the lines with black shrink tube. I've had them on the front of my 40 standard coupe for many years with no problems. Just requires a couple simple fitting changes. I can't recall where but I did find a company years ago that made me custom length rubber lines?

The local hydraulic hose store here can make up most brake hoses from bulk hose possibly you can find a place that can make hose or shorten yours and put a new end on

I ran across this company that makes up brake hoses. I have not used this company so no experience. brakequip.com

Some places won’t make brake hoses for liability reasons. But they will make hydraulic clutch hoses with the exact same materials. Wink, wink.

There used to be parts books with specs on hoses. Length, ends, etc.
That's one of the ones I did not save...
Some one may have, check NAPA

Only way to fly Krylon has the only way to fly.

I would be tempted to see if the existing brackets could be relocated or angled differently (or remade) to suit the existing hoses. If feasible taking into account full lock either side and full bump and rebound then the hard lines could be rerouted or remade to suit. If new hoses are needed in the future the stock ones could be sourced.

Here in Canada, I will need to get a safety inspection, and that requires DOT legal hoses, so I was hoping to find an application that used a shorter hose with the same ends.
In the 'OLD DAYS' you could go to a parts shop and look through a book to find a part number, but now, as mentioned above, all the shops are capable of is looking up a part based on year/model/engine.

The place I mentioned say their hoses are DOT compliant brakequip.com

There is a company Brake quip that sells crimping machines and has a dealer network that will make custom Dot hoses their number is 1 (800) 253-0403.

Thank You everyone.
When I get the full weight on the frame I will have a good idea of the new length required, and then I will go to:

https://brakequip.com/

and have them make me up some shorter hoses.
Stock is 15,5 " and i'm assuming I will need 11" or 12" in the end.

Don't want those hoses rubbing against the tires!

I just had custom hoses built to spec at Gregg Distributors Hydraulic Shop, they where built, pressure tested and in my hand within an hour and the quality 10X that of any of the aftermarket hoses I’d been trying which where all too long or too short.
