Happy Birthday to the Model A Ford! The official premiere of the New Ford took place on December 2nd 1927. At that point Ford had produced less than 1,000 cars but had 11,000 US dealers hungry for something to show the public. Ford offered this film to those dealers who couldn't get a car to display but needed a way of attracting crowds to their showrooms until production increased.

Ditto, Paul.
I find that the more attention I pay to the details when I work on one of my As, the better the driving experience. I can only imagine what driving a new one must have been like. I think we would all be pleasantly surprised.

I have driven 4 unrestored, all original Model As so far, and one thing they all have in common is the feel like they are carved out of a single piece of metal. If you ever find yourself in the US, and you have time, let's take my unrestored fordor for a spin. Unless it's raining... I don't take it out in the wet.

I'd love to do that but I'm not sure I will get there again. That offer just might change that though. Thank you, Paul.

I have driven 1 original low mileage, unrestored Model A. A 1931 Ford coupe. 32,000 original miles on it. It still had a sense of its 'newness'. subtle, but it was still there. I could feel it in its driveability!! ~

I enjoyed the drive and the privilege to get to drive 'his' Model A!

A Model A should be tooting his own horn louder. There are a lot of great videos on his site like this one about the 1st picture of the A in public. A month before the "official" first pic.

Thank you for the kind words. Glad to hear that others enjoy these obscure and sometimes untold stories of the Model A. We have plenty more that we are working on.

Here is the oldest photo of a Model A "in the wild" taken a week after the first of the New Fords rolled off the assembly line in October 1927. The full story is in the video link.
